Brief History of VUHMinistries In the mid-1990s the Lord gave Mrs Helen Aigbe-Joseph a vision for Women, Widows and Orphans. I began to write down a burden from the Lord that I had been carrying for a long time. It was a burden to share with women how through our homes we can be effective witnesses of the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christto people we come in contact with. How through our lives, we allow God’s word bring His Kingdom into our marriages and teach children in our care to affect their generation for Our Lord Jesus Christ. The Book of Ruth became the main reference point regarding the work of Vessels Unto Honour Ministries. The Book of Ruth therefore, is the major reference of this Ministry of Our Lord Jesus regarding ‘Women, Children and Widows’. As it is, “R U T H” in this context is ‘Reaching You Through Homes’. As the Lord began to unfold the appropriateness of this book to His service, I saw that both Naomi and Ruth are widows. Ruth the younger widow who is permitted to remarry according to scriptures, brought provision home for Naomi the older widow. On the other hand, Naomi taught Ruth what to do to get married, who, then had Obed from whose lineage Our Lord Jesus descended. In this one book, the Lord had mercifully given this ministry the privilege to be a vessel to ’His Service’ that is dual in nature, yet one in purpose. On April 14th. 2001, the vision was shared with six ladies who showed their interest and began a prayer group, which today is known as ’Vessels Unto Honour Ministries’. The emphases of the Ministry is Support for Widows and helping Orphans. The Ministry now has contacts in Botswana, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda, as well as working with the ’Gate Keepers’ Ministry in London.
Our Basis of Faith Vessels Unto Honour Ministries believe and accept the revelation of the Triune God given in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and confess the faith of the Gospel therein set forth. We here assert doctrines, which we regard as crucial to the understanding of the faith, which should issue in mutual love, practical Christian service and evangelical concern. à The sovereignty and grace of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgement. à The divine inspiration of the Holy Scripture and its consequence entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. à The universal sinfulness and guilt of fallen man, making him subject to God’s wrath and condemnation. à The substitution sacrifice of the incarnate \son of \god as the sole and all-sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin, and from its eternal consequences. à The justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Jesus crucified, buried and risen from the dead. And in the baptism of believers by immersion in water and the commemoration of \Christ’s death by the observance of the Lord’s Supper until His return. à The illuminating, regenerating, indwelling, sanctifying and empowering work of God the Holy Spirit. à The priesthood of all believers, who form the universal church, the Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Head and which is committed by His Command to the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the world, for the spiritual and physical needs of the whole man. à The expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory |
